The MTSU Chinese Music Ensemble’s Fall 2026 concert presents an exciting program, featuring three paraphrases on themes from Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. Joining the ensemble is the special guest artist Hong Wang, a superb multi-instrumentalist dubbed a “one-man band” by the Los Angeles Times. Wang is a premier studio and remote recording artist who mastered more than 30 instruments. His performances were pivotal to composer Jeremy Zuckerman’s Emmy-winning score for The Legend of Korra, and his extensive credits include Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, God of War, Outlander, Foundation, and Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. As artist-in-residence at MTSU, Wang will work with the Chinese Music Ensemble and give lectures at the MTSU School of Music and Recording Industry programs in the College of Media and Entertainment. This concert will be the culminating highlight of his residency.
