Center for Chinese Music and Culture (CCMC)

Welcome

MTSU Center for Chinese Music and Culture (CCMC) is a hub for Chinese music and culture. Its mission is to engage regional, national, and global communities about rich and diverse musical and cultural traditions from China. CCMC strives to promote cultural diversity and mutual understanding through learning, scholarship, and service opportunities.

CCMC is located in Murfreesboro, a part of the metropolitan Nashville community known worldwide as Music City USA. A 3,200-square-foot space at MTSU’s Miller Education Center, CCMC is composed of a gallery of Chinese musical instruments, a library and archives, and 2 classrooms. CCMC also works with the MTSU School of Music to offer a credit course of Chinese Ensemble

MTSU Center for Chinese Music and Culture promotes cultural diversity and mutual understanding through learning, scholarship, and service opportunities at MTSU and in our communities. Since its inauguration in 2016, CCMC has presented concert series, fine art exhibitions, and the Murfreesboro Festival of Chinese Arts, as well as academic exchange programs between MTSU and higher educational institutions in China and the United States. CCMC hosts lectures and field trips for MTSU students and k-12 classes and performs outreach cultural programs for schools, senior living centers, and other interested groups in Tennessee.

CCMC is an international hub for visiting Chinese music scholars and musicians who give lectures and performances at the Center’s events. If you are interested in archival research, please contact Dr. Mei Han (ccmc@mtsu.edu). For a tour of the Center, email us at ccmc@mtsu.edu or simply drop by.

Please follow us on our website, Facebook and YouTube pages to be the first to know of upcoming events at the Center.
